We’re ok

Filed under: Animal stuff — cdiacz @ 12:01 pm

Gilberts doing fine, thanks for asking.  I am a little concerned I may need to find a home for the rat though.  The new lab I’m in uses rats instead of mice and some labs discourage any contact with outside animals of the same species for fear of contamination and anything like that.  I will have to ask the proffessor.  If anyone is interested let me know.

Everyones hurting right now

Filed under: daily life, stuff that keeps me up at night — cdiacz @ 7:47 am

Wisper a prayer for Gilbert the parot for me today. I came home yesterday to find blood all over the bird room. She had the tiniest little cut on her foot that would not stop bleeding. We tried bandages, stiptic powder, everything. I was so afraid she would bleed to death. She looked better this morning, but still I’m sure she’s anemic. She’s 20 years old and I’d really like to have her another 20 years, shes such a good bird. And Mike’s knee is still sore, Sharon’s been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and I sprained my wrist when Ponti decided to be an idiot. So I think we are just going to take it easy this weekend.

we will have to trailer shop

Filed under: Animal stuff — cdiacz @ 1:54 pm

Ok, so if we are going to keep Rhi, and actually do events with her, we really need to find a trailer that she fits in. That ricketty old 2-horse is ok for the 20 minute trip to the vet, but not for hauling all the way to texas for jousting lessons. Jess and Paul are going to be wanting that one back soon anyways. Keep an eye out for a used stock trailer, under $1000 if possible, even better if we can make payments. I know thats a hard find, but maybe if we put the word out one will come along. Thanks!

The pictures say it all!  This went great!  Thank you to everyone who helped!  I didn’t find out till later that Celtic Moon had a booth down there, next year maybe we can do something in conjunction with them.  I would have loved to stay down there if it wasn’t sooo hot.  We’ll have to plan for next year ahead of time!

Oh, and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

Parade’s a go ahead!

Filed under: Uncategorized — cdiacz @ 8:19 pm

Ok, we are on for the parade Saturday!  It looks like Mike is going to get off, and then he will ride Rhi in her ”armor” and I’ll ride Phantom as his lady, and as many of you as would like to dress up and march with us we will be marching as Markland Medieval (check out www.markland.org that’s our parent org in NJ, Mike and I need 10 members to officially become our own chapter).  I must have at least one ground person per horse for safety sake because horses will step out and show off in front of a crowd (even old Phantom knows what a show is about), and there will be “spooky” children and fire engines present.  Also I would like one person to walk with Maggie, pull her in a wagon, whatever, she has an outfit to dress in, or if Melissa decides to ride, I’ll be a ground person or we can switch off.   It would be really really cool if we could get as many of you to do this with us as possible, and we can hand out Markland flyers too.  Parade line up is 9:30, but we will have to ride the horses down there and it would be cool to have help grooming, so I’m gonna say meet at our house no later than 8:30.  Please let me know who wants to help so I can plan accordingly.  Oh and someone grab me a couple pieces of that lovely bamboo so we can flag up our coat of arms banner.  Thanks!

Polk Salad Parade

Filed under: Animal stuff — cdiacz @ 4:17 pm

Anyone want to help me with a parade next weekend?  We had planned on dressing Mike like a knight and him riding Phantom or Rhi, but he’s gotta work.  I could still dress up like a princess on a unicorn or something, but I need a ground crew and someone to help with Maggie.  If Phantom is calm she could even ride with me, but still, ground crew for safety please.  Anyone got nothin else to do?

Puppies puppies everywhere…

Filed under: Animal stuff — cdiacz @ 8:03 am

My friend Penny’s yellow labs had 12 puppies. That’s a lot of puppies. Too bad dogs aren’t like horses, you know if you like your mare you breed her once and get a baby just like her. No with dogs, you breed em once and you get a dozen just like her. And you know me I’m tempted to go pick one out. (Well Buddy is leaving for a new home in a few weeks after all). My problem is I’m still looking for a dog to “replace” Taffie. She was my ultimate soulmate of a dog, complete with blue ribbons, and no she’s not dead she just lives with my mom and is going on like 13 years old. Maybe if I raised one from a puppy… Well I know there will never be another Taffie, too bad I couldn’t have bred her and gotten just one, she’s spayed of course, but then what would I breed her with anyways, we don’t really know what she is, lab and greyhound we think. Well enough rambling, point is go check out Penny’s page (its on my links page) and pick yourself out a puppy.
