I’m back

Filed under: daily life — cdiacz @ 2:04 pm

Sorry its been a while, had a crazy week last week. Maggie was in the hospital for the first part of last week after getting dehydrated from Rotovirus. She’s doing much better. Then I get back to work on Thursday and have to whip up a presentation for that afternoon, which actually went pretty well, then Friday, which was also my birthday, I left for the model horse show. The show was fun but the competition was really tuff. There was a stock horse show and a kennel club dog show going on at the same time. You know you are in Texas when you see a cowboy riding down a city street. Hopefully things will be back to normal for a little while.

gallery’s up

I got a good start on an art page last night. Check it out. I need to take pictures of the sets I just made that will be for sale at the show.

I didn’t mention that I took Maggie for a ride on Ponti this past weekend. I sat her infront of me on the saddle and we rode circles around the backyard. Ponti can be high strung, but she seems to understand when its more serious and she needs to behave. Maggie did real well and didn’t wiggle. I want to start working up to longer rides with her and maybe soon we can start doing trails as a family, at the walk of course. I’m worried about her attention span though, need to make sure she won’t wiggle and try to get down. Maybe I could strap her to me with one of the bigger kangaroo things…

art stuff

Jess and I are getting ready to take some model horse art down to the Dallas horse expo. For those of you not familiar with this sort of thing, the model horse community is quite large and includes people who collect Breyer horses and other brands, customizes these models, sculpts their own models, or make tack and props for these almost like people with model trains. I did a few small shows in high school and did well, but was only mildly commited to the art. Well Jess makes some lovely sculptures and was impressed enough by some of the saddles I made to see if we could get together and do some together. She thinks my saddles might sell pretty well too. So I am going to try to put a page on here that has some of my art and if people would like to order anything, let me know. It may take a while for me to get everything up, but I will get it running soon.

anyone awake

Anyone else feel this tired and cranky after daylight savings? And of course it would be a dark and dreary week on top of that. I just can’t get out of bed.

Took Maggie to a party at Chucky Cheese last night. She ran everywhere. Finally got her interested in a basketball game. She tossed the balls to me and I threw them through the hoop. She got a kick out of that. She’s going to be my little athlete I think.

Hello

Filed under: daily life — cdiacz @ 9:51 am

Not really sure what to write about today so I’m just going to ramble for a bit here. Maggie’s down to one nap a day so I haven’t had a chance to sneak out to ride for awhile, going into withdrawl. Been going out to mess with them after dark when she’s in bed, but can’t ride then unless I want to do circles in the back yard where the light is. Need to make a video of Mike riding Rhi for selling purposes. I don’t know, if the camera’s not too heavy I could ride behind him on Ponti or Phantom down the road, but maybe it’d be safer to film him from a car. All the horses need spring baths. We adopted another cat. Well here’s the whole story. Shadow and Katie have been living happily outside for awhile, they are smart enough to not go near the road and they do check in now and then. Salem, whom I haven’t mentioned here yet, moved in just after what happened with Merlin, and he’s a good cat, Maggie drags him around all day. Mike thought it would be cool, since Salem is black, and is the only house cat at the moment, to look for a white cat to match. Wouldn’t you know the same people we got Merlin from had a blue-eyed white, so of course we had to go get her. She seems to be settling in ok, we are going to call her Avalon in keeping with the King Arthur theme. We are arguing over whether she is deaf or not, 80% of blue eyed whites are, but less likely if the white is caused by a double dilute of the simease coloring than a pure white as in patchworked cats. I have a feeling she has simease in her, so she may not be deaf. We’re not letting this one outside.

Busy Weekend

Filed under: daily life — cdiacz @ 9:07 am

Thanks to some very hard working friends we now have a properly installed electric fence that at least so far is holding everyone in. And it didn’t even cost that much. Its what we should have done in the first place. But I had enough of the old plastic posts to fence in my garden too so its all good. Penny’s got a tiller I can borrow and then I can go plant shopping. I’ve given up on the guineas, we’ll stick with the chickens. Them little chicks are getting big. I got some batteries in my camera so I’ll try to get some pictures up tonight.

Horse for sale

Filed under: Animal stuff — cdiacz @ 10:20 am

We have decided to sell Rhiannon. She is too much horse for once a month trail rides. She needs a regular job, or to be a mom. She’d make some pretty babies. Pass the word around, I’m listing her at $1000, or trade for the right trail horse for Mike, maybe a walker.
